Intrepid are experts in small-group, adventure travel. We have compiled a selection of their best-selling tours from across the globe. Group travel allows you to maximise your precious time off. Let Intrepid worry about the logistics, so you can focus all your energy on having an experience of a lifetime.
Every Intrepid adventure has been carefully designed to make sure you have an unforgettable experience. They’ve developed a range of styles to suit any kind of traveller.
For travellers on a budget, Intrepid’s Basix trips don’t complicate things by adding heaps of inclusions. They’re about value and offering lots of free time to choose the activities and extras that suit you.
On a Basix trip, the journey is part of the adventure. Depending on the destination, you could end up travelling on a bus, a safari vehicle or even a donkey. And your accommodation will range from hostels, 1-2T hotels or even camping where you set up your own tent. These trips are ideal for independent travellers looking to make the most of their travel time with minimum hassle and maximum experiences.
Original trips are classic Intrepid adventures. With a mix of included activities and free time, they offer plenty of opportunity to explore at your own pace and join in activities that really get beneath the skin of a destination. While the occasional meal may be included, you’ll have the freedom to seek out your own culinary adventures. Accommodation is generally budget or tourist class (2-3T) but you’re as likely to find yourself a guest of a local family as staying in a hotel or camping. Transport will vary as well and it’s all a part of the adventure! Original travellers have a desire to make the most of their travel time and really get to know a place, its people and cultures.
Comfort is your style of travel if you want the whole grassroots experience with more inclusions, meals and creature comforts. While accommodation is predominantly tourist class (3-4T), on some itineraries there is the opportunity to stay with a local family, spend the night on a train or camp out in exotic places (without putting up your own tent of course!). Along the way you’ll really experience the destination up close. You’ll mingle with locals and gain special insights from your leader. This is not luxury travel but real world experiences, just with a softerlanding.
Some of Intrepid’s journeys have a special interest or theme. Keep your eye out for them as you’re searching for your perfect trip.

You’ll find the physical rating next to the itinerary. This indicates how much physical activity is required of you on the trip - from none at all (unless you feel like it) to 8+ hours a day hiking or biking. It also tells you how fit you need to be to enjoy it. Physical ratings range from easy and relaxing; to only for the seriously fit, who are ready for a full-on, active adventure. Choose a trip for inclusive activities that only require a moderate level of fitness.
You’ll also find the culture rating beside each itinerary. This gives you an idea of the degree of culture shock you can expect - whether there’s any familiar food, health considerations and how much you’ll need to adapt to local customs. Culture ratings range from little or no adjustment required; to expect a real culture shock. On a mid-point, rated trip you can expect unusual food and some language barriers but still access to home comforts.
Because of the small group sizes, Intrepid are able to guarantee departures for most of their trips. Unlike other operators, Intrepid generally run trips on a ‘maximum number’ basis, not a minimum. So unless minimum numbers are specified, once you have booked and paid your deposit, your trip is on!
Most of Intrepid's trips are carbon offset, except those where they do not have pricing control. Carbon emission information in this brochure relates to amount of emissions offset per person, per trip.
