Day 1: Zurich – Lucerne

Arrive in Switzerland. A quick train journey takes you from Zürich to Lucerne. Lucerne is the gateway to central Switzerland. Situated on Lake Lucerne, it is embedded within an impressive mountainous panorama. Thanks to its attractions, its souvenirs and watch shops, the beautiful lakeside setting and the nearby mountain excursions, the town is a favourite travel destination for many. The mountains of Pilatus, Rigi and Stanserhorn are accessible by cableways (not included), with picture book panoramas of the regions around Lucerne. Highlights of the city include the fully restored Chapel Bridge – one of Europe’s oldest wooden bridges and landmark of Lucerne – and Lake Lucerne itself. Day 2: Lucerne - Lugano

Breakfast at your hotel. Travel on the Gotthard Panorama Express from the traditional heart of Switzerland travel to the Mediterranean style Italian speaking south. Day 4: St. Moritz

Chic, elegant and exclusive, St. Moritz is located at an altitude of 1856 metres above sea level and surrounded by the beautiful lake landscape of the Upper Engadine. It is yours to explore today; enjoy one of the many top excursions in the region. The Swiss National Park, a particularly impressive piece of Alpine landscape, is a stunning slice of pure nature. Walk along the marked hiking paths and take in the amazing scenery over the Engadine region. Day 5: St Moritz – Zermatt

Enjoy the legendary Glacier Express experience in full from St. Moritz to Zermatt, a thrilling journey in a panoramic carriage taking in some of the most dramatic scenery Switzerland has to offer. Time today to explore historic Zermatt, the renowned car-free village at the foot of the most photographed mountain in the world. The Gornergrat railway takes you from Zermatt to the top at 3,089m (10.134ft) for stunning views of the Matterhorn and a panorama of 29 four-thousand meter peaks. Day 7: Zermatt - Montreux

Start your day on a train trip to Montreux. Journey through the valleys passing by quaint landscapes including small vineyards of the Valais and Vaud region. Relaxing by the window you will also see many historic landmarks as you pass by Sion, the capital of Valais. Arriving later in Montreux, the ‘Swiss Riviera’ will capture your heart and will delight visitors with its panoramic views of Lake Geneva and the surrounding towering mountains nearby. A relaxing afternoon is in store. Take some time to stroll along the lakeside in Montreux. Overnight: Montreux (B)

Day 8: Montreux - Interlaken

The Golden Pass Line is one of the most picturesque routes across the Alps. Leaving Montreux the train zig zags up the steep incline offering wonderful views of Lake Geneva. Further along the line pass through scenic valleys and quint picture postcard villages. Magnificent views over meadows, bursting with golden colour, an experience to be treasured. Arrive in the popular resort town of Interlaken overlooked by the magnificent trio, the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight: Interlaken (B)

Day 9: Interlaken

Interlaken is the gateway to the Swiss Alps. A trip to the world famous Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe awaits this morning! Experience the views from Europe's highest railway station, heading up to gaze over the Aletsch Glacier at over 3,454m above sea level. Overnight: Interlaken (B) Day 10: Departure Board the Interlaken-Lucerne Express of the Zentral Bahn, passing by the breathtaking Brünig Pass, on a journey that takes you along romantic waterfalls and the shores of crystal clear lakes overlooked by the magnificent trio, the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
